Laboratories and MRSA

The laboratories in the EUREGIO have the task of performing the microbiological and hygienic supply and services for the healthcare givers in the region to the highest level of quality. Particularly, the laboratories perform the spa typing of MRSA in the region. Consequently, the MRSA strains are comparable even from different laboratories and across the border. Furthermore, the laboratories in the region advise the hospitals and medical practices in all matters concerning antibiotic therapy and hygiene measures. A standardised and coordinated procedure regarding these topics, particularly regarding MRSA, is of extraordinary importance. The laboratories are involved as project participants in the roundtable discussions and meet regularly at laboratory summits. They take active part in the advanced training seminars and meetings of the coordination centres MRSA-net Twente/Münsterland.
