Public health service and MRSA

The public health service has a special role in the fight against MRSA, both in Germany (ÖGD) and in the Netherlands (GGD). Whilst in the Netherlands the hospitals are supervised centrally (Inspectie), in Germany the local public health authorities/services are in charge of the supervision of the respective hospitals in their region. In the context of the EUREGIO MRSA- net project, the ÖGD/GGD has a central role as moderator in the regional network in the fight against MRSA. The public health service is the only institution which is in direct contact with all sectors of the healthcare service (hospitals, medical practices, laboratories, nursing homes etc.)

Cooperation partner in MRSA-net project

Public health authorities have assigned project representatives for the round table of the EUREGIO MRSA-net project Verweis auf externe Website [Representatives]. In the project meetings, the discussion of the MRSA problem in the region is enforced, and common strategies against MRSA are developed. Of foremost importance is the coordinated action for the implementation of the national guidelines and laws regarding nosocomial infections and multiresistant microorganisms.

Quality targets for public health service

This is an objective of the MRSA-net project and is under development.
